A serious crash on November 24, 2025, along East Little Creek Road in Norfolk left a motorcyclist hospitalized.

According to information released by Norfolk Police, officers were in the area of E. Little Creek Road and Chesapeake Boulevard around 8:50 p.m. when a collision occurred between a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene but was later located by police several blocks away. The motorcyclist was transported by paramedics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with significant injuries.

Law enforcement has charged the driver involved with several offenses including driving under the influence, driving without a license, and hit and run.

For injured victims and their families, understanding what happens next and what rights they have can be critical in the aftermath of a traumatic crash.

What Injured Motorcyclists Can Do After a Serious Crash

When a motorcyclist is seriously hurt in a collision, especially one involving impaired driving or a hit-and-run, the path forward can feel overwhelming.

While the police investigation and criminal charges may address the driver’s conduct, they do not resolve the victim’s medical bills, lost income, or long-term challenges.

The following steps can help protect a motorcyclist’s rights and strengthen a potential Virginia personal injury claim:

Seek Ongoing Medical Care When Needed

After the initial emergency treatment, continuing care is one of the strongest forms of evidence in an injury claim. Medical evaluations, specialist visits, imaging, physical therapy, and prescribed limitations all help demonstrate how the crash has affected the victim’s health.

Be Cautious When Dealing With Insurance Companies

Insurance adjusters, whether from the at-fault driver’s carrier or the victim’s own uninsured/underinsured motorist policy, may attempt to limit compensation or push for a quick settlement.

Injured motorcyclists are not required to provide detailed statements immediately, and they are not obligated to accept an early offer. Taking time to understand the full scope of medical needs is essential before agreeing to anything.

A serious motorcycle injury often involves more than immediate medical bills. A personal injury claim may also include:

  • Future medical treatment
  • Rehabilitation and therapy
  • Lost income or reduced earning ability
  • Pain, suffering, and reduced quality of life
  • Permanent impairment or disability
